Because nothing says THREE DAY WEEKEND BITCHES like meme time!!

PICK ONE OF MY CHARACTERS AND I WILL TELL YOU:
→ why I decided to play this character
→ my favorite scene or bit of interaction concerning this character to date
→ my favorite original aspect about this character (world-building for ocs or head-canon for fcs)
→ the last thing they did "off screen"
→ what their last words would be if they died tomorrow
→ what the next thing I'm doing for them is (narrative, post, shelving, whatever)

BONUS ROUND:
» I will tell you what character of yours I'd like to play mine against
» you may ask me a free question ♥

And there will be that ten sexy people pic!meme later, now that I have the patience for html.
So I could turn this post into a rant about how upper management at work must come from some crazed hell dimension where annoying your employees to death is the ultimate goal and only my undying love for what we do and the people I work with and days like tomorrow (potluck and time at the gun range) keep me sane, but I won't because that post would be lame.

Thanks to fanmix, I found this badass bad called Boyce Avenue. Apparently before they released their album of original stuff, they did all these acoustic covers.

Wonderwall : the staple for acoustic coverage

Realize : I've got a weakness for this song anyway, but hearing a guy sing it makes me happy.

Iris : the other cover staple, very well done

Tattoo/No One/Where is the Love : mash-up for the win

Bleeding Love : just when this song was starting to drive me crazy, these guys made me love it again

Love in This Club : No, really. An acoustic cover of "Love in This Club." And it rocks.

Also, for the two of you who care, there may be more Kite!fic.

Fight Club is on Spike tonight and I'm taking that as a sign that this weekend will be awesome.

Also, ordered something awesome from the interwebs. There will be pictures when it arrives.

For now, though, this LJ needs some motherfucking music up in here.

Lady Gaga - Love Game : if not for that really traumatizing reference to a "disco stick," this song would be pretty near perfect.

Two Steps From Hell - Freedom Fighters (Choir) : the song from the Star Trek trailer. Chokes me up without fail every time.

The New Pornographers - The Bleeding Heart Show : (I leapt across three or four beds into your arms/where I had hidden myself somewhere in your charm/our golden handshake has been smashed into this shape/it's taken magic to a primitive new place)

3OH!3 - Don't Trust Me : Because some lines never get old like tell your boyfriend, if he says he's got beef, that I'm a vegetarian and I ain't fucking scared of him.

Katy Perry - Waking Up In Vegas : I blame Vegas!plot for getting me hooked on this song. I like to think of it as the hungover aftermath of 'what if they hadn't had to flee from the fuzz.'

Trading Yesterday - She Is The Sunlight : oh god, this is my Kite song. This is it right here. (she lives in a daydream/I don't belong/she is the sunlight/and the sun is gone)

It is entirely possible I may add more later, but these are my most agressive earworms at the moment.

This is a chemical burn. It will hurt more than you have ever been burned and you will have a scar.

You know what would be frosting on this cake of a memorial day weekend? A music pimp post.

Linkin Park - New Divide : the new single for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen that is every bit as much an ear worm as 'What I've Done.' (and the ground caved in/between where we were standing/and your voice was all I heard/that I get what I deserve)

Jay Z vs The Verve - Dirt Off Your Symphony : one of those mashups that shouldn't work half as well as it does.

Katie Gray - Set Free : (and you got style/and you got grace/and you got the means/to leave that place/but you'll never, never make it/and you'll never, never break it)

Schuyler Fisk - Lying to You : (you don't look good in my bed/I'll take back every word I said/you don't know me like you think you do)

Mike Doughty - Sunkeneyed Girl : my unexpected but loved Kite-McCoy anthem. (you are the drinks i drink and keep drinking and fall down stumble/all of the things i think and keep thinking and lie down tremble...i'm no prize for you/no trophy too)

Also, to waltz!Rog, still working on Kite vs the Enterprise and this should not work either, but I love it so. Pea Ess - Don't know if LJ has been playing havoc with your notifs *eyes it threateningly* but tag to you in wounded!Kite-McCoy, if you're still up for continuing.

May 24th, 2009

And the Memorial Day Weekend fic dump continues! Remember the 30 prompts meme? Well, two of the requests ended up merging in my head so now I give you:

Supernatural (time and scale, both altered out of reckoning) and Artemis (a place beyond fear)

gods of the new world )
You know what Memorial Day weekend is for? It's for working on the torrent of Generation Kill and killing time by finishing all those unfinished writing projects I've had sitting around for fucking ever. I'm not promising a lack of rough edges on anything that comes out today, but I'm tired of keeping these all to myself.

First up: Tony-Artemis, in a mix of millicanon and Extremis comic book canon.

in the furthest reaches

how to save a life )

Expect more as the day goes on.

May 23rd, 2009

Survived work today, which was fucking epic. Never thought FedExing something could be so complicated. But I also got a present of beer, which totally makes up for that. (Note to self: put some in the fridge tonight.)

Based on threads with Bones and Kirk (and spending too much time on the kink meme my own undying love for new!Trek), I'm seriously tempted to write 'my OC princess chuck-bass-with-tits sleeps her way through Starfleet has wacky adventures in space.' Maybe this is the sleep deprivation talking. (Not that I didn't come home from work and fall into bed for four hours.) Someone talk me out of/into this, plz.

Also, based on two eps I've seen out of order, am now watching Southland from the beginning...or I would be if Megavideo didn't suck cocks in hell.

May 11th, 2009

Safely home from ACen and the weekend can be summed up as FUCKING AWESOME. There will be a more detailed rundown of swag and pictures at a later date. But I'd just like to add that I've officially fallen in love with the concept of the photoshoot and plan on attending many more in the future.

Also, so in love with my Kraehe costume but more so with the reception it got at con. You've never known awesome until you've been mutely fangirled by a girl in a Silent Hill nurse costume.

I need to get some sleep, but just...YAY.

Also, I can has another convention now, plzthanx? I have more costume ideas. :D

PS - If you had some cbz/cbr files you were looking to read, what kind of program might one use?

PPS - Don't you hate it when you're toying with an original fiction idea, and while you're still hammering out details, you end up coming up with fanfiction for your original fiction and then can't decide what you want to be canon? Or is this just me?

May 6th, 2009

What, can it be? An entry of...SUBSTANCE??

SAY IT IS NOT SO.

It's so.

Hokay. So I was at the library on Monday and discovered they had the first Nightside book. Having been meaning to see what all the fuss was about over this series, checked it out. Just finished it, and I have to say I loved pretty much everything about it...except John Taylor.

here there be spoilers )

Tell me, oh wise f-list, because I know I've got some Nightside readers out there, will I like John more as things carry on? Am I being too nitpicky? Is the first one the worst one? Throw me a bone here, guys, because I really wanted to like this series.

(I also checked out the mega book with the first three Hawk and Fisher stories; am hoping those are better or I will be a SAD LIBRARY PANDA.)

This time tomorrow I will...hopefully be in bed, actually, given what time I have to get up to go to the airport on Friday, because in case the cosplay pictures weren't a clue, I'M GOING TO ACEN. This will put me incommunicado pretty much, where LJ is concerned, although I will be bringing my laptop and will tag if I can. On the other hand, I plan on twittering the crap out of the convention, so hopefully that will keep y'all entertained over the weekend.

I should make my sandwich for tomorrow, but will probably end up watching Much Ado on YouTube instead. Which I may be doing already.

(Or, ohgod, tell me they have Branagh as Iago on youtube. SO MUCH HOT.)

EDIT: Also, if anyone knows what I should be reading if I find myself craving Deadpool? (No, I haven't seen the movie yet, but all the Deadpool chatter has made me remember my scans_daily-spawned love.)

This could probably be a twitter (and may yet be) but there has been some interest in this thing that's kept me off the internet lately.

Check it, bitches.

Seriously considering entering this one in the hall costume contest for craftsmanship. For now, though, I need to wash my hair (and get into the Phish Food in my freezer).

PS - That pun in the title hurt me a little to type.
Hey, y'all. Sorry I've been made of fail when it comes to the internets and slowtimes lately. In addition to work eating into my last couple of weekends (but yay for overtime pay), I'm gearing up for ACen next weekend, which means free time gets devoted to costume construction.

On the plus side, I've got most of the costume done! I need to add the feathers to the skirt and do a few other little touch ups, but I'm in the home stretch. Pictures will happen as soon as it's complete.

For now though, my butt is going to bed. How did it become 2:30 in the morning? How is it (technically) still Saturday? Ah, the mysteries of life.

April 21st, 2009

This is what happens when I've got a job; the wank is over by the time I get home. And that's all I have to say about that.

Also, I have not forgotten the writing meme! See, here's one now.

#26 the structure of her nose alone (Sweets/Doll)

she had my face )

The others will be fluffier :D? The other ones I'm working on now are actually linked--#29 time and scale, both altered out of reckoning (Supernatural) and #3 a place beyond fear (Artemis). I'm pretty psyched with how they're going and hopefully they'll be up in the next few days.

Arg. Have been meaning to put one or both of the girls into the bar for days and keep failing. Tomorrow--come hell or high water! (Also, I may hurl Kite back into m_m; I kind of adore her.)

Also, anybody got any music recommendations?

Finished Havemercy tonight. Cried through the last chapter. Listening to this song on repeat the whole time probably didn't help, but don't care. Book was marvelous. (Also, if there is any particularly awesome fanfic/fanart/fanworks out there that I might have missed by being late to this marvelous party, hook a girl up yo?)

Have been made of fail when it comes to the internet this past week or so. Blame the girl parts. Will try and correct that this week. In an effort to fail less, and also because these prompts rule, I'm stealing that writing meme that everyone else stole.

Choose one or two or however many and a character/pairing and I'll try and write something for it. You can also ask for original if you're interested in seeing what my pretty little brain comes up with myself.

awesome!list beneath )

My fandoms consist of: Life, SPN (although I am not most-recent-episode-compliant), Iron Man, Milliways, Downside, Greek Mythology...and most other things I fangirl; just ask and I'll see what I can come up with.

I have a few tags I want to catch up and then I'm heading to bed. Happy Easter, everybody.

EDIT: If you haven't seen the new assassin for Assassin's Creed 2, DO SO. We're going to Renassance Italy, motherfuckers. We get to hang with da Vinci, Machiavelli and the Medici, and have TWO stabbity wrist blades. (Also, if that outfit were not so goddamn complicated--and undoubtedly too warm for EVER--would be more eager to cosplay it.)

April 8th, 2009

I just twittered this so I know it's repetitive, BUT I DON'T CARE.

Mary McDonnell is on the the guest list for DragonCon this year. LAURA "AIRLOCK" ROSLIN WILL BE AT CON. I FEEL LIKE SHOULD GET IN LINE NOW FOR THE BSG PANEL.

Not kidding when I said I was crying. This brightened my whole fucking week, you guys.

(Also, before you comment in flailing joy, I STILL HAVEN'T FINISHED WATCHING THE LAST SEASON, I KNOW I FAIL BUT SHUT UP LAURA'S COMING!!!!)

April 6th, 2009

Um, so I may have been inspired to write my Great Fantasy Epic Series in middle school (like we all were), and while the first two books may (with the benefit of hindsight) remind me entirely too much of Tamora Pierce, I can't shake my love of the fucked up children in the third book.

Eagle is an asshole, but he feels like he has to be if he's going to be king. Kestrel is something of a wuss at first, but then he almost loses an eye and gains a split personality (courtesy of the resident mother goddess). Also, he ends up shoved off in a treaty marriage to neighboring warlord-turned-king to keep him from detonating a magical weapon of mass destruction.

Then there's Kite. Kite is leftovers. Kite is the only girl, the one who was the youngest when her mother lost it and who doesn't really have any memory of her mother sane. She's the one everybody worries about, who doesn't really have a place. So she raises hell instead. She learns from assasins and theives, she parties on the wrong side of town, visits brothels, and flirts with married members of court. She is sharper than any of the knives she carries and just trying to carve out a place for herself.

I mention all this because she's over here and very loud. :D?

Because clearly it was the overwhelming winner in the poll...I chose therunningfree.

XD What can I say? I didn't even think of the name until I was posting the poll, but the more I thought about it, the more I loved it. I like having different user names, having a distinction between these two halves of my blogging heart, if you will. Plus, that song was my mantra for all of last year, and I feel like it's still my own personal anthem for this stage of my life. And therunningfree it is.

You know what this means. Give me your tired, your poor, your twitter names yearning to be followed. Also, any reccomendations for a Windows Mobile-compatable Twitter client? I'm going to test out PockeTwit, but if you have something you absolutely love, lemme know.

I'm still fiddling with my layout and I don't even have a damn picture yet, but those can be things for tomorrow evening. Tomorrow day-time, I'm going to hit up the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC. Hopefully there will be awesome pictures to follow.

But for now, Twitter sleep.

March 30th, 2009

Hokay, so. Since I've got a steadily growing list of Twitters I follow (and why did no one tell me Trent Reznor twitters?!?!), and a cell phone that would let me post to it, I think I'm succumbing to the lure. But this means I need a username. And since I really don't use the poll function enough:

On the cosplay front, tested my makeup and got my wig in shape this weekend. Now I just need to start with the sewing in the coming days and I'll feel like I'm on schedule for ACen.

Music added!

Lily Allen - Womanizer : yes, the Britney Spears song. Yes, you should listen to it anyway.

Fall Out Boy - Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet : normally, while I like FOB songs, I'm not hooked. This one has me hooked. Pretty sure I killed my iPod battery at work today rewinding to listen to it again.

Ludo - The Horror of Our Love : just when I think Ludo couldn't write a creepier song that I love more, they surprise me.

Ida Maria - Oh my God : that damn catchy song from the Gossip Girl commercials.

Travis - Hit Me Baby One More Time : because Britney Spears covers are done by the rockin'est people, this one featured in an episode of Life.

March 20th, 2009

Okay, so I saw my first episode of Dollhouse (which wasn't the first ep, but the one that aired tonight) and I was pleasantly intrigued. And also I now have these terribly meta wheels turning about the progression of treatment of women with power in Joss stuff. It's terribly vague, so I'm shoving it under an LJ cut.

Jesus Christ it's a can of worms get back in the car )

...maybe that ended up less vague than I thought.

On a totally non-meta note, I bought the fabric I need for my Princess Kraehe costume today. Ordered the feathers, too. Will try and do some work this weekend, even if it's only straightening the layers in the back of the wig. In typical me fashion, I've started putting together a playlist for costume construction, themed around the character. It is currently full of mostly bad pop and hip hop music. I am not ashamed of this.

Now I think there will be threading.
